Pouria Mousavi was born in 1995 in Tehran, Iran, and graduated from Amirkabir University of Technology with a BA in Mathematics and Applications. While studying, he began working in the film industry as a 1st AD and Production Coordinator. He later became program coordinator for the Tehran International Silent Film Festival, and following the festival’s reorganization, took on the role of programmer of the Globe International Silent Film Festival.
In 2017, he founded The GlobeCSF, an international sales and production company focused on Iranian independent films and co-productions between Iran and primarily France, as well as Germany and Canada. The company’s catalogue includes Aban (2022, France–Iran), a film about a queer child in Iran exploring identity, and There Is No Friend’s House (2023, France–Iran). These films have been selected for prestigious festivals including PÖFF Shorts (Estonia), Clermont-Ferrand ISFF (France), and Oberhausen ISFF (Germany).
In addition to his production work, Pouria has been a guest lecturer and mentor at Maajara Film School. He recently completed shooting his first production in Germany, Nikas Zimmer, in collaboration with SWR. He is currently studying International Producing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
